Essam Al Tamimi is Founder and Senior Partner at Al Tamimi & Company. A national of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Essam Al Tamimi graduated with an LL.B. from Al Ain Law School. He holds an LLM from Harvard Law School, and is licensed as an advocate to practice in the UAE. He works closely with the UAE government, assisting it with regulatory work. He is widely regarded as one of the most experienced dispute resolution lawyers in the Middle East and is the author of several books including ‘Setting up Dubai’, the ‘The Practical Guide to Litigation and Arbitration in the United Arab Emirates’ and the UAE chapter in ‘Arbitration World 2006.’ Essam is an active member of the International Bar Association, a former co-chair of its Arab Regional Forum; the president of the UAE Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a council member of the International Court of International Arbitration, court member of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and president of the LCIA Arab Users’ Council, is a member of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre Board of Trustees, a member of the Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy Board of Trustees. He is a registered arbitrator at the World Intellectual Property Organisation, the GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre in Bahrain and both the Dubai and Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centres.
